THE TOP COAT: Vee of @your.girl.vee

Vee is a public servant by day and a die-hard nail polish fan by night. She was born and raised in Canada and is the mother of two awesome boys. How would you describe your personal style? To be honest, I don’t know that I have a set style when it comes to nail polish… For me, it’s all about my mood. I love busy and quirky nail art just as much as I enjoy a plain manicure. I think there’s a time and a place for just about anything when it comes to nail polish! What is your creative process like? I like to pull the shades that stand out to me, lay them out on my desk, and then go through my collection to find complementary shades. I think choosing colors is the hardest part for me. There are just so many beautiful options! I also like to look for cool color combos by googling the words “color palette”. I’ll then go through my nail art supplies and use whatever I think will complement the nail polishes I have selected. Any tips for taking photos of your nails/hands? Relax your hands! Holding a bottle of nail polish while trying to catch the perfect shot can feel unnatural. So, I recommend keeping things simple to start. Think of how you would naturally hold a nail polish bottle in your hand if no one was looking. Still feel awkward? Ditch the bottle and strike a pose that allows that nail polish to shine. Take tons of photos and don’t worry about the poses looking weird. Weird can be cool. What are your hobbies outside of polish? I love to sing. I’ve been singing since I was a young girl. I think music allows me to tap into a side of me that I might not show otherwise. I’ve sung in groups, solo, gigged as a backup singer and played in all kinds of venues from obscure bars to wedding halls and festivals. How did you get into blogging/swatching? I had already been into nail polish for a while, but I had recently fallen for indies. I eventually posted a swatch of Acid Wash (one of the very first Cirque polishes I ever purchased) and you guys reposted me. Not too long after that, someone from the Cirque team reached out and asked if I’d like to swatch some polishes. I was so excited! That was in 2018 and I’ve been swatching ever since. I think that having the opportunity to swatch for a brand that I enjoy gave me the confidence to keep sharing my love of nail polish. My top 3 Cirque Colors products: - Vanderbilt (my most used Cirque polish) - Electric Daisy (I have a backup because it’s that good) - The Looking Glass Top Coat (it dries quickly and the shine is amazing)  Any questions you want answered?
