Hi! My name is Samantha, aka @samrosenails. I'm 22 years old and from Brooklyn, NY. I spend most of my time painting my nails and cuddling with my super cute dog, Ollie.
Your nails are always on point! Any tips for painting your nails or doing nail art?
Everybody says it, but practice, practice, practice! It took me a while to get the hang of painting my nails, especially with my non-dominant hand. A good cleanup brush to clean around your cuticles with some remover after painting your nails can completely upgrade your mani and make it look like you just got them done at a salon.
Can you tell us about your first experience with nail polish?
My older sister started getting into nail polish and I wanted to copy her. I remember starting in 8th grade, I went to the drugstore and bought a big set of nail polish. That week I painted my nails a different color every single day. From there it just kind of snowballed into doing nail art and now here I am.
What's one way you treat yourself?
I love ice cream. Anytime, anywhere. I always have a pint of Ben & Jerrys in the freezer. My favorite flavors are Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Netflix and Chilll'd.
Any tips for taking photos or your nails/hands?
I take literally hundreds of pictures at a time after a manicure. I slightly move my hand every few takes just to change up the angles. I also find it really helpful if I take all my photos in a square frame, rather than cropping it later on. It helps me visualize and get the background just right.
What are your hobbies outside of nail polish?
I love to bake. I'm always baking some kind of cookie, and brownies... and banana bread. Baking is very relaxing to me and I love trying out new recipes. I also love to read. The last great book I read was The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
How did you get into blogging?
I've always followed nail polish/art accounts but it wasn't until high school when I took a class at FIT that I felt confident enough to start sharing my own nails on Instagram. I was inspired by my creative classmates who shared their hobbies online and realized I should be doing the same. It's the perfect way to express my creativity and get inspired as well!
